Detroit Auto-show 2011: A Record in Many Ways


2011 Auto-show set a record in many ways - A record attendance of about 740,000 visitors. 5,500 journalists from approximately 60 countries. 55 new products revealed, of which 35 have never been seen elsewhere before.

Porsche unveiled its hard-top racing version of its 918 RSR - it just looks awesome, and a sports dream with V8 engine with 563-hp at 10,300 rpm. Chrysler rolled out its 300 model with the apt sounds of Eminem's "Lose Yourself" - V6 & V8 engine flavors with 292-hp & 363-hp. Honda in turn, showed the world what is can do with the 9G of Civic Coupe & Sedan. For the first time, buyers in all 50 states will be able to buy the green natural-gas Civic machines, in addition to the Civic Hybrid that runs on lithium-ion battery. German based Mercedes-Benz dusted off the eye-catching matte-yellow painted SLS AMG E-Cell, a 525hp supercar. The local boy, General Motors revealed the Z Spec Concept. Its Sonic will be available in sedan & hatchback bodies and 138hp engines. BMW's 1 Series M Coupe with a 340hp in its metallic orange body is called out as a race car for your city use. Its smallest division Mini, expanded its models with the Paceman Concept. Veloster & Curb Concept were two new ideas that spun from theHyundai workshops with 138 & 175-hp engines. The Veloster was sexy in its looks. ToyotaPrius C Concept in its shiny blue color will woo attention. Its Prius V is a high-class luxury automobile. Audi's handsome A6 sedan with LED headlamps, 300hp stood gorgeous in electric red color. Kia KV7 Concept is a neat van. Volkswagen Passat is expected to be start at $20K, is a CEO's car. Ford Vertrek Concept looks a star trek version & C-Max is a good 7 seat machine.

In short, this Auto-show was a power packed start to show how the roads of the world will change. All eyes are on to get one's favorite machine, if not more.
