Microsoft launched Windows 7 phone edition with a big bang and every employee internally was also announced a free phone. Samsung, HTC, LG all were part of the band wagon. I liked it primarily because of cool Office tools and especially for its deeper office integration.
Pros
-Good office integration: You will love the Outlook emailing, calendaring, contacts and tasks - works clean! On Android, I know of issues with corporate email integration and meetings showing by 30m in advance.
-P hone hardware: All windows 7 phones have a decent enough hardware as mandated by Windows. So you can be guaranteed of a decent performance across all phones.
-Tiles: Neat concept and enables quick updates across multiple apps.
-Camera & Photo apps: Good! That's it!
-Facebook integration: A simple and neat Facebook integration keeps me connected with my friends always
-Windows Apps: Not to mention the plethora of Windows apps like Office communicator, MSN messenger, Bing integration, maps etc. that really provide a good value for money.
-Music & Video: Well, am not going to write - just experience it yourself.
-X box Games: Microsoft has integrated with your Xbox live and the games are really awesome to play. I love these!
Cons
-Cost: You can probably get cheaper Android phones at half the price. But you get good discounts on Amazon wireless - can save up $50 on phone only, and new/upgrade contracts with carriers starting just $0.01.
-3rd party Apps: Win7 is still a new OS, and developers are getting there. Though all major apps are there, the nitty-twitty ones are still getting there - Give them some time!
-GPRS need: Most apps like even the alarm need an active internet connection [GPRS/WiFi] to work. Though this has been designed to save battery, the first look design seems lame.
Costs & Buying
1. Samsung Focus: This is one of the first Windows mobile, and Samsung has done a good job. The phone alone costs about $449.
2. HTC Surround and HTC HD7 are solid W7 phones. The former costs about $469.99 and the latter about $519.99. These are real business phones and worth investing if you are serious about business productivity.
3. LG Quantum is also a good model. LG loyal guys can opt for this. Decent mobile.
If you are going for a contract, get the new/upgrade ones on the links mentioned above starting just $0.01, and enjoy your Windows 7 mobile experience and then reply to my article.
And the answer is - yes, it is really sexy amigos!
